Inter won their first home game!

Samuel Eto'o

Inter milan opened their first home game with a 2-1 win over Udinese. Lucio stepped up and scored the opener to put Inter in front in the 6th minute, when goalkeeper Samir Handanovic couldn’t handle a corner kick from Wesley Sneijder. 25 minutes later, Udinese saw a relieved after Antonio Floro Flores equalized the game by beating Lucio to head in a cross from Antonio Di Natale.

In the 67th minute, Eto’o knocked in a rebound of his own penalty shot to put Inter back in front. He also nearly scored again when he saw his shot hit the post with a long shot from outside the box in the 83rd minute.

Benitez made some changes as Maicon and Stankovic struggle with injury. Mariga McDonald replaced Dejan Stankovic in the midfield along with Esteban Cambiasso. This is his second time starting the game and he looked really excited. Another change was Jonathan Biabiany, 22 year-old winger, to play wide position as Goran Pandev waited in the bench.

Benitez in his interview stated that he wants Inter to play wider and with more options as opponents have known how Sneijder and Milito link together.

The win could boost Inter confidence up as they open Champion League to defend their title against FC Twente next Tuesday.
